Our story starts in 1881, from a fruit factory in France. Fast-forward more than a century, and we’re more committed than ever to bringing out the best in families everywhere.
1881
When it all began. The creation of our original applesauce and puree factory in Boué, France.
1922
Materne’s founder, Edmond Materne, buys the Boué applesauce factory and expands his business.
1998
Materne creates Pom’PotesTM, the first ever fruit in a pouch!
2008
Materne expands to the US with the launch of the GoGo squeeZ® brand. Apple Apple & Apple Strawberry are the first two flavors.
2008
GoGo squeeZ® hits a milestone of one million pouches sold in the US!
2011
In March of 2011, the GoGo squeeZ® & TerraCycle® partnership begins.
2011
In April of 2011, the Materne North America, GoGo squeeZ® headquarters opens in NYC.
2011
In November of 2011, the first US production of GoGo squeeZ® begins in Traverse City, Michigan.
2012
In July 2012, GoGo squeeZ® Organic launches.
2014
GoGo squeeZ® fruit & veggieZ line launches.
2014
First production of GoGo squeeZ® in Nampa, Idaho begins.
2016
Our innovative pantry-friendly snack GoGo squeeZ® YogurtZ launches.
2019
Our smoothie snack in a pouch, GoGo squeeZ® Morning smoothieZ, launches.
2020
The first product in our Happy CollectionZ line, GoGo squeeZ® Happy TummieZ, launches.

In May 2020 our bigger pouch for bigger kids, GoGo squeeZ® BIG, launches.
2022
Materne is acquired and joins the Bel Group brand family.
2022
Our Happy CollectionZ grew with 2 new products! GoGo squeeZ Happy BrainZ® & Happy ImmuneZ® launch.
2023
Our Traverse City, Michigan plant becomes landfill free.
2024
Our new sports snack innovation, GoGo squeeZ® Active Fruit Blend with Electrolytes, launches.

A Powerful Way to Produce
n 2023 our Traverse City, Michigan plant became landfill free. By diverting 5,061 tons of waste from the landfill, we saved the equivalent CO2 of 450 cars driven for a year!
Less Waste Per Pouch
We’re constantly challenging ourselves to do better, down to the carton materials we source from sustainable forests. With new caps alone, we’re able to produce 40% less plastic*. And we’re just getting started.

Forward-Thinking Foundation
Since 2021, we’ve gone all-in on regenerative agriculture. First in Hart, Michigan, launching AgBioResearch facilities to strengthen education and environmental practices for fruit growers. Followed by our work with West Michigan Research Station and Michigan State to support irrigation research.

Hitting the road to help our mission grow: We partner with nonprofits like Feeding America to deliver over 150 tons of pouches per year to kids and families across the country.
